La Noticia joins URL Media network

URL Media is excited to welcome award-winning print and digital news organization La Noticia as our nineteenth media partner.

For the past 25 years, La Noticia has been the longest-running Spanish-language news organization in North Carolina. The publication provides 400,000+ Latinos throughout the state with general news and information on topics such as business, immigration, health, education and entertainment.

Since it was founded, La Noticia has continued to grow and reach new heights by staying true to its core mission: to be the most trusted source of news covering issues that affect the Latino community. "We understand that our readers came to the United States from Latin America with a dream of becoming financially successful and happy," the team writes on its website. "To achieve these goals, they need to understand how business is conducted here in their new home, what the American culture is like, and how they can adapt to it.”

With 172 José Martí Journalism Awards, La Noticia is the most awarded Spanish-language news organization in the United States. "We are so inspired by the work of La Noticia. It truly focuses on serving its community with a mix of digital prowess and journalistic innovation. Latinos represent the largest ethnic minority in the U.S., and I’m glad our network is growing to include this important publication and their audience" said Mitra Kalita, co-founder of URL.

La Noticia is also not afraid to innovate and adapt its storytelling for digital audiences. In 2020, the publication started its digital transformation with the re-launch of LaNoticia.com. In just a few years, the team has established an impressive online presence, and receives 4.3 million pageviews per month. The publication has 70,000 followers on social media, where roughly a third of its digital readers fall between the ages of 18 and 44. Last year, during the 26th annual EPPY Awards, La Noticia was named "Best Hispanic newspaper website in the country.”

“We are very happy to join this network of high-performing BIPOC-owned news organizations, where we have the opportunity to share content and revenue that will help us all serve our communities better," says Hilda Gurdian, Publisher and CEO of La Noticia.

"We believe in the core value of collaboration, which is to work and grow together, so joining URL Media is a great decision for us," says Alvaro Gurdian, Executive Vice President of La Noticia.
